The menu at Corner Cafe is a treasure trove of Southern-inspired delights and all-American classics. From the crisp, golden Chicken Fried Chicken—crisply breaded and bursting with juicy flavor—to fluffy, buttery biscuits slathered with creamy gravy, every bite is infused with comforting familiarity. Their hash browns offer the perfect crispy accompaniment, while dishes like the Tenderloin Sandwich or the tender Hamburger Steak deliver satisfying heartiness. Regular patrons and first-time visitors consistently praise the welcoming, cozy ambiance and attentive service. Despite the busy weekend rush, as Craig experienced during a Saturday lunch, the wait was minimal and the food arrived fresh and bursting with flavor—proof of the kitchen’s commitment to quality. Rhonda Steines highlights the cafe’s impressive ability to cater flawlessly to larger groups, maintaining a seamless and satisfying dining experience for all. Lisa Wilson adds that attentive servers like Aubrie elevate the entire meal with their genuine enthusiasm and care, making every visit feel special and personalized.

While some dishes, such as the meatloaf noted by Joey Sanchez, may not captivate every palate, the overall experience is buoyed by the warmth of the staff and the unmistakable home-cooked goodness permeating every corner of the cafe. Diane White beautifully sums it up: the chicken and noodles are not just flavorful—they’re generously portioned, paired with melt-in-your-mouth homemade dinner rolls and heavenly cinnamon rolls, embodying the very essence of down-home cooking.

Whether you’re here to savor a leisurely breakfast, indulge in a slice of pie that feels handmade just for you, or pick up a family meal that feels like a hug on a plate, Corner Cafe Independence delivers a heartfelt dining experience rooted in tradition, warmth, and flavorful nostalgia.

Corner Café in Independence is worth the stop. We went during the Saturday lunch rush and while it was busy, the table wait was minimal. The food came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor—it really feels like good southern comfort cooking. Service was on the slower side, but with how packed the place was, it makes sense and speaks to how popular it is. The desserts are a must-try. The Banana Crème Pie is outstanding, with strawberries, cherries, pineapple chunks, and a vanilla wafer crust that ties it all together. Overall, highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty, home-style meal and great pie.

I brought a group of people from the Independent Living Center where I work and they seated us quickly, took our orders, and topped up our drinks as needed. Everyone had separate orders, and the waitress handled it wonderfully. Each resident got a different menu item and all were satisfied with what they ordered, including myself. I got the chicken and noodles with one of their dinner rolls and it was superb, less than $10! We will be back! Came back for lunch with my husband. Great portion sizes and food was delicious! I had a reuben and my husband got the tenderloin sandwich, both were superb and waitress attentive and pleasant! We returned and had the onion rings, which are really onions underneath the breading. Husband got the tenderloin sandwich again, I got the tuna croissant, both were terrific. We ended with a slice of lemon meringue pie, and it didn't disappoint, so light and airy, flaky crust, too. Great portion size for the price!

Acknowledgment needed. Our cups were never less than half full… Comfortable and cozy feel. small bakery makes it convenient to take a small or large sweet treat home. Aubrie was very pleasant and fantastic at her job. I sense her real passion for Corner Cafe and the food she serves. She elevated our experience with her enthusiasm.

Scrumptious down-home cooking and baked goods! Wide-ranging menu, daily specials. There was nothing small about the "small" serving of chicken and noodles I ordered--in size OR taste! And the homemade dinner roll melted in my mouth. As did the plare-suze cinnamon roll I enjoyed for dessert. Wonderful restaurant!

I gave them 5 stars because even though the food wasn't perfect, the service and wonderful staff made up for it. I ordered the meatloaf. Nothing really special about it. It was under seasoned and had a texture you would find in an elementary school cafeteria. The gravy was overly runny and moved around on my plate like water. The roll on the other hand was perfect. It was hot, huge and tasted great. The pie options here are awesome!!! Delicious pies!!!! The other people at my table ate breakfast and the biscuit and gravy was delicious and the omelet was cooked to perfection. So overall this place gets 5 stars! Ill come back and something different.

I really enjoyed my first time visit to the Corner Cafe. I drive past there quite often and the parking lot stays occupied. Everyone who I had talked to about the place spoke highly of it. Well today is my day off and my wife's birthday and she was off too. I decided that I would take her there for lunch today. I was not disappointed. My waitress Petra was everything. She smiled and was friendly. She wasn't hovering but was never far away. She even checked to see if I could get some of yesterday's dessert special. It happened and it was well worth it. The food and service negates the slightly higher prices. Maybe the prices aren't slightly higher but I'm just very conservative with financial matters or in other words a tight wad. One more thing, the bread pudding was the best that I ever had. That says a lot coming from me who makes my own egg nog bread pudding.

The wife and I decided we'd like some comfort food prior to heading to the Royals game. Being from out of town, we did our usual Google search and found the Corner Cafe was close and had good reviews. We were quickly greeted and seated when we arrived. Our waitress was great, and we quickly had our drinks and she took our order. I had the fried catfish with baked potato, and my wife had their special beef tips and noodles with mashed potatoes and fried okra. We both loved our meals, everything was served fresh and hot, and the serving sizes were big! We were very pleased with our decision and left full and very comforted!
